From December 29th to 31st, the School of Political Science and Public Administration (SPSPA) held a seminar on discipline construction and school development. The seminar focused on the implementation of the spirit of the 14th Congress of Party Representatives in Shandong University, the action plan on "120 years of the university committed to developing itself and contributing to the country", the sum of work and the plan for future development in the new year. Daniel A. Bell, Dean of the SPSPA, Cao Xianqiang, Executive Vice Dean of the SPSPA, and more than 60 teachers attended the meeting, which was presided over by Gai Yuqiang, Secretary of the CPC Committee of the SPSPA.
The seminar on discipline construction and development was divided into two parts: a thematic report and a group discussion. Firstly, Cao Xianqiang made a report on the discipline development of the SPSPA in 2019, hoping that the school would strengthen the discipline integration in the next year, find the right direction for growth, and earnestly increase the introduction of talents, improve the level of management services and the mechanism for evaluation and incentive. Then, the peak discipline team and the relevant research platform reported the progress and development of the academic research project.
After listening to the above report, all the participants were divided into five groups to fully discuss the issues such as the implementation of the action plan for "strengthening the school and invigorating the university", the promotion of discipline integration, the modernization of subject, the introduction of talents, and the combination of departments local education governments, and the work of alumni. Meanwhile, the summary of the discussion was reported. In the next step, the school will introduce a series of measures to carry it out, encouraging teachers to do high-quality and high-level research to build first-class disciplines and courses and support the discipline construction and scientific research.
During the meeting, while reporting and summarizing their respective works, the leading group also set the work priorities in 2020.
