The review meeting of the 34th Shandong Province Outstanding Achievement Award of Social Science was held from September 7 to 9, 2020. After scrutiny of ideology, objective ranking, relayed scoring, selection on the review meeting, and being examined and approved by the committee, Prof. Wan Dianli’s work Cross-Domain Governance: a Study on Coordinated Development of Urban Agglomeration ultimately won the second prize and Associate Professor Liu Lin’s paper A Social Structure Analysis on the problem of “the absence of negotiator” in mass incidents during the transition period won the third prize.

The book Cross-Domain Governance: a Study on Coordinated Development of Urban Agglomeration reflects the constant attention and latest thoughts of Prof. Wan Dianli and his team on the issue of urban agglomeration. Beginning with a vivid “Shandong story” of urban agglomeration governance, the book examines the policy and the development of urban agglomeration on the Shandong Peninsula and explores a mechanism that promotes urban agglomeration cooperation.

The paper A Social Structure Analysis on the problem of “the absence of negotiator” in mass incidents during the transition period explains that the problem of “the absence of negotiator” reflects the non-organized situation in mass incidents, which is deeply rooted in the absence of social middle-level organizations during the transition period. Establishing social middle-level organizations is an important way in social governance to deal with mass incidents during the transition period.
