On November 14th, the 2020 Annual Academic Conference on China’s Urban Governance was held at the Qingdao Campus of Shandong University. The theme of the conference was “high-quality urban development and modernization of urban governance”.
The opening ceremony of the conference was chaired by Cao Xianqing, Vice President of Qingdao Campus and Executive Vice Dean of the School of Political Science and Public Administration. Prof. Kong Lingdong, Secretary of Party Working Committee in the Qingdao Campus, Prof. He Yanling from Renmin University of China and Prof. Zhu Chunkui from Fudan University addressed the opening ceremony.
The segment of thematic report came after the opening ceremony. Bao Jing, Executive Vice-chairmen of Chinese Public Administration Society (CPAS), Prof. Lan Zhiyong from School of Public Administration in Tsinghua University, Prof. Tang Yalin from School of International Relations and Public Affairs in Fudan University, Prof. Yu Wenxuan from School of Public Policy in Xiamen University, Prof. Lujun from School of Government Management in Peking University, Prof. Wang Dianli from School of Political Science and Public Administration in Shandong University, Prof. He Yanling from School of Public Administration in Renmin University of China, and Prof. Wu Jiannan from China Institute of Urban Governance in Shanghai Jiaotong University made keynote speeches.
In the afternoon, attendees went into a vigorous discussion around the topics of “urban renewal and spatial governance”, “urban governance and regional development”, “grass-roots governance and innovation” and “big data governance and smart city”.
The closing ceremony was chaired by Prof. Ma Ben, Vice Dean of the School of Political Science and Public Administration. Prof. Shen Tiyan from Peking University, Prof. Zhang Lei from Northeastern University, Prof. Yang Hongshan from Renmin University of China, Prof. Zhu Chunkui from Fudan University, and Prof. Ye Lin from Sun Yat-sen University delivered keynote speeches, and Prof. Tang Yalin from Fudan University and Prof. Cao Xianqiang from Shandong University addressed the closing ceremony.
The annual academic conference provided a forum for in-depth discussion of topics like urban renewal and spatial governance, big data and smart cities, and regional development, as well as a platform for research cooperation and academic exchange in urban governance.
