On the morning of September 1, the School of Political Science and Public Administration (PSPA) freshmen parent’s meeting was held in the lecture hall of the South Building of Huagang Courtyard. Professor Cao Xianqiang, Vice President of Shandong University (Qingdao), Executive Vice President of School of PSPA, Professor Daniel A. Bell , Dean of School of PSPA, Professor Gai Yuqiang, Secretary of the Party Committee of the School, Associate Professor Li Jishi, Deputy Dean of the School of PSPA, Professor Kong Xinfeng, Deputy Dean of the School of PSPA, Professor Dong Xuemei, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of the School and Sang Weilin, deputy secretary of the Party Committee of the School, together with parents and students attended the meeting.

Professor Cao Xianqiang first welcomed the new students and their parents, and expressed his gratitude for their trust in choosing Shandong University. He mentioned the history and mission of Shandong University as the starting point and introduced the background and the layout of the school, then he analyzed the potential, challenges and advantages of the school. Professor Daniel Bell introduced the teachers of the college and explained the construction and advantages of the Qingdao campus. Professor Gai Yuqiang expressed his gratitude to the students and parents, appealed to students and parents to have confidence in the school, gave a detailed introduction to the talent training measures of the college, discussed how to help students grow together, and hoped that parents would strengthen communication with the school to focus on the growth of students in order to improve the overall quality and to focus on cultivating their abilities and achieve training goals. Professor Kong Xinfeng introduced the undergraduate training work and plan, introduced the school's educational objectives and training characteristics, showing the excellence of the general education system in Qingdao campus, and presented the complete training system, international training, innovation and entrepreneurship and the employment opportunities for the graduate students. In the following session, Mr. Sang Weilin exchanged various questions that students may face during their jouney with parents and called on parents to pay attention to their mental health and help them adapt to university life. Then, he introduced the college's dual tutor system, and answered the questions of parents about employment prospects, professional direction, student management, professional competence, exchange student application, minors and majors, rewards and punishments, cross-school cooperation and exchange opportunities, military training, etc. and answered questions from students at the end of the meeting.

The meeting has enhanced the relationship between the college and the parents, enhancing parents' trust in the college, and helped to lay a good foundation to strengthen the cooperation between the school and the parents to form a synergy to promote the healthy growth of the students.
