At the beginning of the lecture, Professor Bo told the audience that his initial research direction at Peking University was the theory of international politics, which later developed into elite politics, and the object of study rose from provincial leaders to national leaders, with the creative use of big data to study international politics and elite politics, with statistical analysis as the main research method.

In this speech, Professor Bo Zhiyue discusses the selection of local leaders from the perspective of political ecology from both theoretical and practical dimensions. First of all, Professor Bo introduced in detail the basic situation of provincial and county leaders in China with detailed data, and from the Mao Zedong era, he described the selection and appointment mechanism of party and government leading cadres and their changes, and drew the conclusion that the selection process of local leaders in China was selected in accordance with the principle of "championship market" for a considerable period of time. Since the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC), the leaders of the Communist Party of China have waged a resolute struggle against the norms governing the selection of political talents by the Party and the state, which has greatly improved the local political ecology in China. . Taking the political criteria of "four consciousness", "two maintenances" and "four self-confidences" as the first selection criteria, and vigorously promoting cadres who dare to be responsible, maintain good actions and have outstanding achievements, and at the same time, stipulate an avoidance system, an exchange system, and a retirement system.

In the concluding remarks, Professor Bo once again stressed the importance of political ecology and pointed out its interactive and dynamic characteristics. He then summed up that local leaders, as a huge political group, play a very important role in the development of China, promoting the development of various places through mutual competition, thus promoting the overall development of China and put forward the viewpoint that "the first thing to study in China is to study Chinese culture, and to study Chinese politics is to study Chinese political culture".
